#40 - On 02/12/2010 - Billy Hammonds remembered:
One night when seven of us teenagers rode down to Mannington in Billy Waggoners truck.
Seven of us in the cab, I was seated third to the left of the driver and had to shift he gears.
This was just one of the many great experiences we had back in the late 40's.

#39 - On 02/07/2010 - Larry Richardson remembered:
Crofton Kentucky...too much for such a short space, but we spent a lot of time
at Dripping Springs hiking, hunting, fishing swimming, and washing the car...
Tommy and Terry Rogers, Justin Reese, and anyone who wanted to tag along.

#38 - On 02/02/2010 - Rita Lacy Fleming remembered:
Growing up in this town, has given me alot of wonderful memories.
I don't believe that I would want to live anyplace else.
My most favorite memories are when I attended the old
Crofton School on College street.
I never will forget Mrs. Robinson, I had trouble learning my #6 times table.
But, after a few trips out in the hall, with the clear paddle,
it didn't take me long to remember. Thank you Mrs. Robinson.

#37 - On 01/30/2010 - Wendell Alexander remembered:
Lunch at Crofton School, the best cooks, good food, and if you got a little loud,
Mr. Garlon Johns would arise from his meal, stand and look at us without saying
a word. The lunchroom fell deathly quiet, and all you could hear was him jingling
the change in his pockets, not today!

#36 - On 01/30/2010 - Wendell Alexander remembered:
When you could see an oncoming car from the other side of the railroad crossing.
Now the tracks are "all jacked up".

When I was a little girl, my sister took me to the skating rink in Crofton,
It was an outside one right on 41, I thought that was so cool.

#33 - On 12/31/2009 - Lori Sweet remembered:
Going to the grocery store in town, which sounds strange because there was
only a few buildings there. My sister and I would go with my Grandpa and he
would get us chocolate pop. It was the best tasting thing in the world, at the time.
That would have been around 1963 or 1964... Close to that date *smile*

#32 - On 12/01/2009 - Agatha Duncan Nowak remembered:
Lee McIntosh's DX Service Station and Jesse James West working there,
the skating rink in Francis Croft's field on the highway, and square
dances in the school gym. The school fall festival had a haunted house
under the bleachers. It was dark and you got to feel "eyeballs" which
were peeled grapes, brains which was spaghetti (I hope), and fingers
which were carrots. No chain saws chasing you back then!

#31 - On 09/23/2009 - Greg Martin remembered:
Going to RAs at Crofton Baptist Church with Jimmy Cook as our teacher and
church league basketbal games were the big event on a winter night.
Dances held at the City Hall and the old men sitting on the bench outside
Cansler's talking about coal mining, hunting, and basketball!!

#30 - On 09/08/2009 - KGH remembered:

Riding a gray hound bus every summer to visit my Grandmother, Tillie Back.
The bus driver would always drop us off by a gas station and we would walk
about a mile or so to Grandma's house.
Grandma would never buy Coke a Cola unless we came to visit (so she said)
but she always had plenty of ice cold cola when we were there.
I used to walk down the road and purchase movie magazines at a little grocery store.
Next to the store, they had like a small diner that served the very best bbq sandwiches.
Sorry it's been so many years I can't really recall the name.
I'd be guessing if I listed the name.
Maybe someone out there can help me remember for sure.
I seem to remember pink, lots of pink on the walls.
Summer wasn't summer without a trip to Crofton, but oh how I hated those bus rides!!

The first time I went fishing at the old Crofton Lake, also going to the gas

Crofton always had friendly people, many children playing, a perfect place
to grow. Everyone knows each other, so you're sure to have a friend if
you're from Crofton. The kids always make your day interesting, anything
new spreads quicker than the dawn of day.
I love Crofton Kentucky.
